Description
Higher Hatherleigh Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 18th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble that is coursed, and it features plain clay tile roofs with simple gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys with attics and consists of three bays, along with a lower two-bay extension. The windows are horizontal bar casements with two and three lights, set under exposed timber lintels. There is a projecting flat-roofed two-storey porch at the second bay, which has a plain semi-circular archway and a plain boarded door inside. Above this porch, there is a narrow four-light attic window. Additionally, there is a single-storey brick and tile porch situated between the two parts of the house, which has a partly glazed door and a plain doorway leading to the second bay of the extension. Although the interior has not been examined, it appears to have maintained its character, featuring a good 18th-century fireplace in the north gable.
