Description

The south portion of the boundary wall to Abbey Farm, located 50 metres south of the farmhouse, dates back to the 15th century. This short length of wall, approximately 11 metres long, features buttressing and is now integrated into the Caretaker's cottage, which is not of interest. The wall is constructed from local stone, with joints heavily smeared in places. It has four buttresses with delicately moulded offsets at two levels. The wall has been shortened to accommodate the roof of the cottage, now standing at approximately 2 metres high. Originally, this wall was part of a listed outbuilding that was destroyed by fire in 1971.
