Inn. Early C19, but incorporating earlier work. Ham stone ashlar facade, squared rubble elsewhere; Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables; brick and chimney stacks. Two storeys, 4 bays. Sash windows of 16 panes set in plain surrounds with keystoned lintols; to lower bay 2 a 6-panel door in plain surround: fascia board between floors across bays 1 to 3, and at upper level between bays 3 and 4 a hanging sign on wrot iron bracket. To north-east gable a single-storey extension with double Roman clay tiled roof having overhung gable, the gable wall being timber-framed with rendered panels, possibly of C16 or C17; plain window in south-east wall. Interior only partly seen; ground floor considerably altered and much extended at rear. Inn first mentioned by name 163l, and probably by implication in 1617 (VCH, Vol III 1974).
