Description

The Gunis monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 6 metres north of the north porch of the Church of St. Aldhelm. It commemorates Dianna Sunis, who died in 1727, with a later inscription that is now mostly obscured. The tomb is made of dressed stone and features an oblong shape on a moulded plinth that is partially buried. It has corner and intermediate pilasters adorned with carved decorations, including emblems of mortality and fluting. The monument is topped with a hipped slab that has a moulded edge along its lower side.
