Description

The Gwillim Monument, located about 3 yards east of the chancel of Putley Parish Church, is a chest tomb dedicated to Henry Gwillim of Newton, who died in 1755. It is made of finely cut sandstone ashlar and features a plain square cut capping, a moulded base, and gadrooned corner balusters. The side panels are adorned with swags at the tops and drapes at the sides. It is likely that the capping was added much later.
