Description
41 and 42 East Street is a short terrace of buildings, likely dating from the early 19th century. The terrace stands three storeys tall and is constructed of white brick, with some areas painted. It features a moulded cornice on the right and a cornice band on the left, along with a continuous parapet and a band above the first floor on the right. There are nine windows, one of which is blocked, with most being sash windows that include glazing bars. In the centre, there is a round-headed archway, and to the left, a larger opening is flanked by two 19th-century shop fronts beneath a continuous dentil fascia. The terrace includes a variety of modern shop fronts. Nos 30, 40, 40A, 41, and 42 form a group with Nos 1 to 3 East Gate.
