Description

The Post Office is an early 19th century terrace of three buildings constructed of brown brick, topped with a pantile roof and a corbelled cornice. It features eight windows, rusticated lintels, grooved keystones, and hung sash windows with glazing bars, arranged over two storeys, with one window lacking a lintel. The ground floor has three original windows and two later canted bays. Number 32, which is The Post Office, has a shop front with a fascia and cornice. A modern, single-storey extension has been added to the right side. The ground floor entrance doors are four-panelled, with oblong fanlights and panelled reveals. These are flanked by fluted Roman Doric three-quarter columns, supporting entablatures with dentil cornices. The building forms a group with the Church of St Mary and numbers 26 to 36 (even), with number 30 being of local interest only.
