Description

40 and 40A East Street is possibly an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall, with a lower elevation than the adjacent No 39. The front is plastered and colourwashed, topped with a slate roof. It features two sash windows with glazing bars. There is a modern shop front. This building is included for its group value, as it forms part of a group with Nos 30, 40, 41, and 42, alongside Nos 1 to 3 East Gate.
