PITCOMBE CP ST63SE GODMINSTER 5/239 The Dovecot, 30 metres North East of Godminster Manor 24.3.61 GV II*

Dovecot. Probably C17. Local stone rubble with Cary ashlar dressings; stone slate roofs, plain gables. Approximately 6 metres square on plan, with plain boarded door in heavy frame under timber lintel, with block sundial set over, in South wall; gables to all sides, with 3-light ovolo mould mullioned windows with labels in South and West gables; above, timber weatherboard cladding to upstands, with apertures for birds, on all sides, in further gablets. Inside the corners have splays: accommodation for about 840 birds, in 20 layers. Generally a sophisticated building.
