Description

This is a house, built around 1760. It is constructed from limestone with dressed stone detailing, and has a brick stack rising from the hipped slate roof. The building follows a double-depth plan and is designed in the Palladian style. It is two storeys high with a half basement, and presents a symmetrical façade with three windows, the central bay being slightly projected and topped with a pediment. An ashlar band runs over the half-basement windows. The windows are mostly 20th-century casements in ashlar surrounds, although a rear elevation retains a 18th-century six-over-six pane sash window with octagonal panes to the first floor on the right-hand side. The central canted bay on the rear also has similar windows, with the central window being semi-circular arched. The building has two-window returns and a three-window rear elevation. Internally, the house features 18th-century panelled doors with richly moulded architraves, a staircase with a carved open string and turned balusters, and a first-floor room with a canted bay containing a domed plaster ceiling with a richly moulded cornice.
