Lodge About 100 Metres South West Of Tetton House

The lodge located about 100 meters southwest of Tetton House was built between 1924 and 1926 by H.S. Goodhart-Rendell for H.M. Herbert. It features a rendered exterior over rubble and a pyramid slate roof with overhanging eaves and a central stack. The building has an octagonal shape with a projecting square bay that overlooks the road. Designed in a classical style, it stands two storeys tall and includes a recessed full-height semicircular headed bay on all sides, interrupted by a string course band at the plinth level. The first floor has segmental headed sash windows, while the ground floor features 12-pane sash windows. The south front has a panelled door flanked by side-lights and topped with a rectangular light. On the east front, square piers with ball finials flank the square bay, which has tripartite 12-pane sash windows that are also lit on the returns. The parapet sweeps down to the ball finials. This lodge serves as a brief classical introduction to the more elaborate design of Tetton House.
