Description

The lodge to Tettenhall Towers, along with the attached former stables and wall, is a notable building likely dating from the early 19th century for the stables and mid-19th century for the lodge. The structure features ashlar stonework and has a parapetted roof, while the stable block is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs.

The lodge is a two-storey octagonal shape, characterized by a first-floor sill band and a top cornice that supports a balustraded parapet adorned with acroteria. The windows are framed with eared architraves and feature horned sashes. The entrance at the rear includes a panelled door.

To the left of the lodge, the wall extends approximately 33.5 meters into College Road and has a plain rounded coping. The stable block, located to the left and rear of the lodge, is a single-storey structure with a five-window range and later end wings. It has a top brick frieze and an ashlar cornice. The central pediment is flanked by angle pilasters and features an elliptical-headed French window with small-paned glazing and a radial fanlight. The flanking windows have rubbed brick flat arches above 12-pane sashes, with blocked upper elliptical openings. A louvred lantern with an ogival cupola and weathervane sits atop the building. The pedimented wings have return 9-pane sashes and central pedimented entrances. The rear of the stable block includes a pedimented centre and some inserted windows, along with a later single-storey block to the left of the lodge. The interiors have not been inspected.
