Description

The gate lodge, dating from the early 19th century, stands as an entrance to Togston Hall. It is constructed of ashlar stone, with squared tooled stone to the rear. The roof is covered in blue slate, featuring a rebuilt yellow brick stack on an older base. The lodge is a single-storey building with a symmetrical three-bay design. Notable features include a chamfered plinth and a square eaves cornice. The central double doors are flush-panelled and flanked by two-light windows containing paired eight-pane sashes; the window on the right lacks a mullion and both are set beneath hoodmoulds. All openings are framed by recessed, chamfered surrounds. The roof has a hipped form, topped with a central ridge stack. A small twelve-pane sash window is visible on the left return. A contemporary outshut to the rear displays a renewed casement window, a nine-pane fixed window with projecting sills, and a boarded door on the right return.
