Description
The wall to the east and south-east of Togston Hall is a garden wall dating from the late 18th century, with extensions added in the late 19th or early 20th century. It is primarily constructed of brick in stretcher bond, with the western part of the north wall resting on a stone rubble base. The rear face of this section features squared stone, while the remainder of the wall is made of a mix of squared stone and rubble. A curved section of the wall, standing 3.5 metres high and topped with flat coping, connects to the south-east corner of the house and includes a segmental carriage arch with an alternating stone-and-brick surround. The western part of the main north wall contains three doorways and blocked heating ducts. The east wall features a diagonally-boarded two-panel door beneath a segmental head at its northern end, and the coping is stepped on the downhill section. The attached farm buildings to the north of the wall are in a ruinous state and are not of special interest.
