Description
The Clock Tower in Tettenhall was built in 1912 to commemorate the coronation of George V. It is constructed from ashlar and features cast iron railings. The tower is designed in the Baroque style, with a moulded plinth and recessed Tuscan angle pilasters. It has a deep pierced frieze and cornice with a blocking course. The sides have eared panels with inscriptions related to time, and there is a narrow entrance with a six-fielded-panel door. A plaque recording the erection of the tower is located at the rear. The round clock faces project into the frieze, adorned with hoods, keystones, and festoons beneath. Surrounding the tower are iron railings with a simple decorative frieze. This clock tower serves as an important landmark in the centre of Tettenhall.
