Description
34 and 36 Clifton Road is a pair of houses, now converted into flats, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and feature a hipped tile double-span roof. The buildings have a double-depth plan and rise to three storeys, presenting a symmetrical four-window range. There is a sill band at the first floor and a high parapet above. The windows are architraved and have 12-pane sashes; the first-floor windows are eared, while the central windows are narrower, topped with cornices and flat plaster gables over 4-pane sashes. The paired entrances are adorned with pilasters, friezes, cornices, and flat plaster gables, featuring overlights and doors with two tall round-headed panels in similar reveals. The rear of the houses is similar in design but lacks the parapet. The interior has not been inspected but may still have interesting features.
