Description
Bathealton Court is a country house dating from around 1766, likely incorporating elements of an earlier dwelling, and was remodeled around 1850. The building features a rendered exterior with quoins, a moulded cornice, and a slate roof, along with rendered stacks. It is designed in a U-shape facing south, with the north wing having been demolished in the 1960s. The house has two storeys with an attic and is flanked by single-storey bays, arranged in a 1:2:3:2:1 bay pattern. The windows are sashes with glazing bars and moulded architraves, with the central ground floor window featuring a pediment and flanking windows supported by console brackets. There are gabled dormers, and the entrance on the left has a single-storey porch with a strapwork parapet, while the outer bay on the right includes a balustrade and a window. The facade was remodeled around 1850. Inside, the first floor left room has an Adamesque plaster ceiling, and the staircase hall features a bolection moulded ceiling with roundels depicting shells and putti, along with a barley sugar twist staircase from the late 18th century. Other ground floor rooms are simply panelled and date from the mid-19th century.
