Description
The Prankerd Chest Tomb, located in the churchyard 7 metres south-east of the south door of the Church of St John Evangelist, is an early 17th-century chest tomb, possibly partially restored. It is made of ham stone and features a moulded base and plinth, with plain slab sides. The tomb has a very deep cyma recta mould coving that leads to a heavy flat top. It commemorates Thomas Prankerd, a local benefactor who died in 1609.
