Description
A pair of gate piers and walls, located about 375 metres west of Lytes Cary, likely dating from the 18th century. The piers are made of local lias stone that has been cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings. Each pier has a square plan, measuring approximately 600mm wide and 4 metres high. They feature a moulded plinth, a plain shaft, and a deep moulded frieze and cornice with caps that include steps and elaborate fluted urns on top. The plain stone flanking walls have small stone scroll brackets that connect to the piers.
