Description
This pair of gate piers, located about 40 metres east of Lytes Cary, is likely from the 18th century. They are constructed of ham stone ashlar and have a square plan with a chamfered base plinth. The piers feature plain shafts, cornice mould caps, and tall necked ball finials. There are swags that extend onto the flanking walls, and a simple 20th-century gate is present. The piers are accessed by three semi-circular stone steps. They serve as the formal entrance to the front garden of Lytes Cary.
