Description

Batcombe Lodge is a late 18th-century house, likely designed as an “eye-catcher.” It is constructed of colourwashed ashlar with a double-Roman tiled roof, copings, and finials to the end gables. The rear of the house features three tall brick stacks. The design is Gothic, with two storeys and three bays. It has 2-light stone-mullioned windows featuring pointed-arch heads and Y-tracery, set within ogee-arched openings. A central gabled porch is topped with a finial; the central, semi-circular-headed doorway is blocked and replaced with a casement, although a new panelled door has been inserted to the right. A catslide roof extends to the rear.
