Description
Glover's Arms Hotel is an inn that may have origins dating back to the 17th century. It is constructed from local stone that has been cut and squared, with painted Ham stone dressings, and features a Welsh slated roof between coped gables. The building has brick chimney stacks at each end, with the tops being modern. It is two stories high with a random facade.
The off-centre doorway, likely from the 19th century, consists of a pair of two-panelled doors beneath a shallow segmental arch, which is topped by a flat hood that projects slightly on simple console brackets. To the left of the doorway, there is a pair of two-light hollow chamfered windows with hood moulds, and to the right, a five-light similar window. On the first floor, there is a two-light window on the left, followed by a three-light and a four-light window, all without hood moulds. The east return wall features a small arched stair window.
At the rear, there are further mullioned windows, but an early 20th-century two-storey brick extension obscures part of the elevation. The interior has not been fully inspected, but the east room on the ground floor retains a large fireplace, which has been partly restored, and most of the winding staircase, which has very deep risers, along with its arched doorway.
