Description

28 Market Street is an early 19th-century house that now serves as estate agents' offices. The building is constructed of brick that has been colourwashed, topped with a Welsh slated roof and featuring brick chimney stacks at each end. It is two stories tall and has a double fronted design. The central entrance has a semi-circular arched doorway with a modern twelve-pane glazed door and a plain fanlight above, all set within a simple surround. On either side of the door, there are twelve-pane sash windows, while the first floor has two nine-pane sashes in plain openings, each with flat gauged brick arches above. A coloured brickwork screen wall sweeps to the north side of the building. The interior has not been seen. This house is built onto the stable block of No. 15 Silver Street and is an important part of the street scene at the junction of Silver Street and Market Street, which is why it is included for group value.
