Description
No. 13 Middle Street is a cottage located at the end of a row, dating from the 17th century and modified over time. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof that has stone slate base courses and stepped coped gables. The cottage features two storeys and three bays.
The lower bays one and three have hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, each with labels, consisting of three and two lights respectively. The two-light window is located under a deep lintel that likely indicates an earlier doorway. Above these, there are later 2, 3, and 2-light chamfer-mullioned windows, most fitted with steel casements and all having rectangular leaded glass. The second lower bay contains a narrow chamfered cambered-arched doorway, which is partially blocked by a two-light steel window. The current entrance is located in the east gable, sheltered by a stone hood on brackets. A 20th-century extension has been added to the rear, and the interior has not been seen.
