Description

A pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century, located on The Borough in Montacute. The cottages are built of Ham stone ashlar, with a Welsh slate roof supported by a single stone base course, and a shallow pitch between stepped coped gables. The roof has yellow brick and stone slab chimney stacks. The symmetrical front elevation has two storeys and four bays. The small-pane casement windows are set in plain openings with voussoired flat heads. Lower windows are located in the first and fourth bays, and centrally between the second and third bays. Plain doorways are situated to the left of the second bay and to the right of the third, with adapted boarded doors set in recesses and approached by two stone steps. The interiors are not documented.
