Description
Colepool Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was restored in the late 20th century. It is rendered over rubble with a thatched roof that is half hipped to the left and features a brick stack on the right gable end. The original plan was probably two cells, but it has been modified to one cell with an outshot at the rear. The cottage has one and a half storeys, with the facade showing a single three-light casement window on the right and a plank door for the entrance on the left. The upper storey is lit on the left return, which has a raking buttress below.
Inside, there are chamfered beams with step and run-out stops, although one beam has been renewed. To the left of the open fireplace, there is a circular projecting stair bay, and a chamfered lintel with a recess to the right, which may have originally served as a bacon airing chamber. Additionally, there are remains of a stud and panel partition.
