Description
Mrs Cox's Cottage is a cottage, likely originally two dwellings, dating from the 17th century and extensively restored in the late 20th century. It is constructed of colour-washed random rubble, with a raking buttress on the left side. The facade slightly projects to the right and features a thatched roof with a rendered stack on the right gable end. The layout is not clear without an internal inspection, but it is probably a two-cell design set gable end to the road. The cottage is one and a half storeys high and has two bays.
It includes early 19th century leaded iron dormer windows with two and three lights that rise from the eaves. On the ground floor, there is a segmental-headed 20th century two-light casement window on the left, a two-light casement window below a wooden lintel to the left of the entrance, and another two-light casement window on the right. The entrance features a multi-paned 20th century door and a thatched hooded porch.
On the right return, there is an early 19th century three-light leaded iron casement window on the first floor to the left and a small stair window to the right. The interior has not been seen but is reported to contain chamfered beams with enriched stops.
