Description

The stables, located about 5 metres north-west of The Lodge, date from the early 19th century and are now used as a garage and store. They are constructed from red sandstone random rubble masonry with brick dressings and feature a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The first floor has unglazed oval openings with brick surrounds in the outer bays, while the central gable, which slightly projects forward, contains a pointed window with Y tracery. Below this is a double door with a segmental, partially glazed fanlight. To the left is a pointed arch doorway with a studded door, and to the right is a garage door. The left return elevation features a full-height, three-light wooden window with cusped tracery, which is in poor condition and lacks glazing bars, as noted during a survey in April 1983.
