Description
This is a house, originally a single dwelling, now divided into two properties. It was built in the 18th century and extended in the early 19th century. The construction is of red sandstone, with random rubble stonework. The roof is slate, hipped in style, and brick stacks are located at the gable ends of the original central block.
The house comprises a central 18th-century block flanked by early 19th-century wings which are set back slightly and have lower roofs. The front elevation has a 1:5:1 bay arrangement. The central block's first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor features ashlar yellow sandstone, with canted bays containing sash windows, flanking a central Tuscan-style porch with a pediment, and an 18th-century double door with partial glazing. The right-hand wing has segmental-headed tripartite casements under relieving arches. The left-hand wing has similar sash windows on the first floor, but a sash window with a 20th-century glazed door and side lights on the ground floor, serving as the entrance to the Bellhouse.
