Description
The Kings Head is a house that now operates as an inn, originally built in the 17th century with alterations in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building features painted rubble walls and has both thatched and pantile roofs, along with two brick and two rendered chimney stacks. It has an L-shaped plan with a two-bay and one-bay arrangement on the front. The right side has a projecting gabled wing with a coped verge. The left two bays have 16-pane sash windows, while the projecting wing has a 12-pane sash window on the first floor and a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor. The door opening between the bays features paired three-panel doors, with the top panel of each being glazed. A wooden sign with raised metal lettering reading "COURAGE" is located to the left of the first floor, and there is a projecting painted signboard on a mid-19th century wrought iron bracket on the first floor of the projecting wing. Inside, there are remnants of a moulded cross-beam ceiling and two open fireplaces with broad wooden lintels.
