Description

This milestone, located approximately half a mile west of the village of Beadlam, dates from around 1880 to 1900. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping upper surface. The left side of the milestone features the inscription 'Kirkbymoorside 4 miles' along with a pointing hand above it. The right side displays 'Helmsley 2 miles' with a similar pointing hand above. The rear of the milestone is inscribed with 'F. Mattison & Co. Bedale'.
