Description
No 38 on High Street is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a concrete interlocking tile roof with stone slates at the eaves. The building stands three storeys high and has three first-floor windows. The central entrance consists of a 9-panel door set in a raised ashlar surround with splayed bases. Flanking the door are 12-pane fixed-light windows, also in raised ashlar surrounds. On the first floor, there are 12-pane windows with small opening lights in the outer bays and a central 12-pane fixed-light window without a surround. The second floor has three smaller shuttered openings, with the central one featuring a raised ashlar surround. The house has end stacks and includes a lead rainwater head and pipe between the first and second bays, which serves a lead gutter that continues over the attached Post Office.
