Description
15, 17, and 21 Millgate are a group of four cottages, now functioning as three, built in the late 18th to early 19th century. The cottages are constructed of coursed rubble for Nos 15 and 21, and feature 20th-century pantile roofs with stone slates at the eaves. They are two storeys high, with the central pair of cottages (No 17) having one-bay cottages added on either side. The buildings have quoins at the ends and at No 17. Most openings are topped with deep lintels. The doors are made of wood, and the windows are sash style with glazing bars, with No 21 featuring a 16-pane window.
Starting from the left, No 15 has a door in a quoined surround to the right of a window on each floor. No 17 has central paired doors, with the left door in a quoined surround, flanked by windows. No 21 has a door to the left, with a blocked pitching door or window above it, and windows to the right. The cottages also feature shaped kneelers and ashlar coping to the left and to the left of No 21. There are brick stacks located at the left end, between Nos 15 and 17, and to the right of No 21.
