Description

These are two early 19th century cottages located on the north side of Eastgate. They are built of coursed rubble with rusticated quoins, and have pantile roofs with a coped gable end featuring a kneeler on the right side. The cottages originally had four windows, each with a segmental arch over the lintel. One window has been blocked up. The windows are generally un-sashed, though No. 64 now has modern sash windows with glazing bars. A modern door is present at No. 64, while No. 65 has a four-panel door beneath a rectangular fanlight, sharing the same lintel as a window. There is a modern, Georgian-style bow window at No. 64. The cottages are part of a larger group, which includes numbers 42-47, 49-57, and 59-70. Numbers 50-52, 56, 57, 68, and 69 are noted for their local interest.
