Description
This is an early to mid-19th century house of three storeys, built of coursed stone with ashlar dressings. It has a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks at the gable ends. The front features two gables which project slightly, each with a round-headed window containing a keystone. A string course runs along the window cills. The first-floor windows are hung sashes with glazing bars, set beneath stone lintels with keystones. The ground floor has two canted bays. The central section has a single window to the top floor with glazing bars, above a round-headed window with a keystone, and above a four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, set within a segmental-headed architrave with flat brackets supporting a carved hood. There are six steps leading to the front door. A penticed extension to the right has a window with glazing bars and a keystone lintel above a segmental-headed carriage archway. A former stable building is located at the rear. The building holds group value with Nos 1 to 5 Castlegate.
