Description
1 Tollergate is a building dating from 1605, originally listed as Ebenezer House. It is a two-storey structure with a basement and attic, constructed of brick. The building features a string course on top of the plinth and at the ground floor cill level, along with a moulded wood cornice and a slate roof. The front has three bays, with the windows being five panes wide; however, the centre window on the first floor is blocked. The entrance consists of a six-panelled centre door with a radiating fanlight above, set within a doorcase that has engaged modified Corinthian columns on moulded plinths. The doorcase is topped with a broken entablature featuring an urn ornament on the frieze and an open pediment. The elevation facing Longwestgate includes one window in the attic and an arched door leading to the basement. Nos 1 to 3 Tollergate form a group.
