Description
No. 23 Market Place is a house that has been converted into commercial premises, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has four bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shopfront with four sashes that include glazing bars, and two six-panel doors with three-pane overlights, which are flanked by fluted Ionic columns, a frieze, and a cornice. On the first floor, there are sashes with flat brick arches, while the second floor features a band and four-pane sashes with stone cills and flat brick arches. The building has raised verges with stone coping and end stacks.
