Description
No 18 is a house with a shop located on the west side of Bedale Market Place, dating from the mid-18th century. The building is constructed of red brick, rendered, and features a Welsh slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has two bays. The 19th-century shopfront includes a central half-glazed door set in a doorcase with pilasters on plinths, a frieze, and a cornice, flanked by bay windows that have central glazing bars, all beneath a frieze and entablature. To the right, there is a four-panel door with an overlight, also in a doorcase similar to that of the shop door. The first and second-floor windows are four-pane sashes with stone cills, and there are end stacks.
