Description
Numbers 29 and 31, which now serve as shops, were originally built as a town hall in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has four bays. At each end, there is a doorway with cambered stone lintels; the left doorway has a six-panel door with an overlight, while the right doorway also includes an overlight. In the center, there are two shop fronts, with the left one dating from the 20th century and the right one from the 19th century, which features a central half-glazed door, flanking plate glass windows, a frieze, and a cornice. On the first floor, there are 24-pane sash windows with stone cills and cambered lintels. The building has a wooden eaves band, stone coping, and end stacks. A rear wing was added in the late 19th century but is not of special interest.
