Description
Nos 36 and 38 in Market Place are a house now divided into two shops, dating from the early to mid 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a machine tile roof. It stands three storeys high and has three bays. The ground floor has two late 19th to 20th century shop fronts, with a central half-glazed door framed in flush wood architrave. On the first floor, the two left-hand bays contain sashes with stone cills and flat brick arches, while the right-hand bay features a tripartite sash. The second floor has shorter sashes with stone cills; the two on the left also have flat brick arches. The building is topped with stepped and dentilled eaves and has end stacks.
