Description

Padside Cottage, located approximately 20 metres south of Padside Hall, is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is built of coursed squared gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The cottage has two storeys and two bays, with quoins at the corners.

The central entrance, which is missing its door, has chamfered quoined jambs and a shallow four-centred arch above the lintel. The windows throughout the building are recessed and have chamfered mullions, with three and four lights flanking the entrance. On the first floor, there are three-light windows, each with one mullion removed and the lintel replaced by a flat-faced stone. The cottage also has shaped kneelers, gable coping, and an end stack on the right side.

Alterations to the roofline on the right side suggest that the building has been extended at the rear. The interior was not inspected, and the cottage was derelict at the time of the resurvey.
