Description

The Raw and attached Barn is a farmhouse and barn combination built in the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 18th century. The structure is made of coursed stone with ashlar dressings and features stone slate roofs. It has coped gables with kneelers and stands two storeys tall.

The south front of the farmhouse includes a three-light chamfered mullion window, which is partly blocked, and to the right, there is a former five-light chamfered mullion window that is also partly blocked with two missing mullions, all under a continuous chamfered hood mould. On either side of these windows are single doorways framed in chamfered ashlar surrounds.

To the left, the barn has a central large cart entrance with a segmental head. To the left of this entrance is a former three-light flush mullion window that is now blocked, followed by a doorway. To the right, there is another doorway with an ashlar surround, above which is a former two-light flush mullion window.

On the rear facade of the farmhouse, there are two lower windows with ashlar surrounds, and to the left, a small blocked chamfered opening, above which are two larger window openings. The barn's rear facade is slightly set back and features a small single opening, with a tall chamfered opening to the right that is now blocked, and a small chamfered opening to the left, also blocked. Above these is a loft opening.

Inside, the building retains chamfered spine beams and two flush ashlar chimney pieces in the farmhouse. The queen post roof structure is preserved throughout the building.
