Description
The garden walls, north gate piers, and south gate at Norton Conyers House date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond, featuring ashlar dressings and wrought iron gates. The wall stands approximately 3 metres high and is topped with ashlar coping. The north wall has blocked flues on the north face at the east end. The north gate piers are adorned with an ashlar band, cornices, and ball finials, while the south gate piers also have cornices and ball finials on plinths. The south gate is round-arched with plain standards, decorative work at the base and lock rail, and is flanked by ornate, scrolled ironwork panels. Above the gate, there is an overthrow featuring ornate scrolls, leaf decoration, and a winged emblem.
