Description
The orangery in the walled garden at Norton Conyers House dates from the late 18th century and features later glazing. It is constructed of ashlar and red brick in Flemish bond. The central block consists of five bays, flanked by glasshouses. The orangery has central round-headed double doors with wood panels and glazing bars, and round-headed sashes with glazing bars, all of which are adorned with a moulded archivolt and double keystone. It has a deep cornice and parapet, with a flat roof. The glasshouses are each approximately 11 meters long; the glasshouse to the left of the orangery is fully glazed and has a domestic building, likely used as gardeners' rooms, behind it. The glasshouse to the right is only partially glazed and has a boiler house and forcing room at the rear.
