Description
The ha-ha in front of Norton Conyers House dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar coping and runs from near the Norton gateway, extending across the front of the house, stables, and garden. The structure is approximately 1 metre high. There are gate piers opposite the south entrance to the stables, made of ashlar with ball finials and ramped walls on each side. This ha-ha likely originated from the removal of the village of Norton Conyers and the subsequent landscaping of the grounds in front of the house.
