Description
Royd House Barn is an aisled barn that dates from around 1678. It features rubble walls and a stone slate roof, with one gable that has been rebuilt and some later alterations. Inside, the barn has a timber nave consisting of five bays, supported by arch-braced trusses and angle struts. The purlins have been relaid to create a uniform pitch for the roof. The aisle posts are set on high stone stylobates. In the rebuilt gable on the south side, there is a reused lintel inscribed with "RC:1678:MC."
