Description
The barn at Farnhill Hall Farm was built in 1835, as indicated by the keystone. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone and has a stone slate roof. The barn features a long, symmetrical facade facing west, with a segmental-headed entry on the east side. The gables are coped and topped with ball finials. Above the cart entry, there are three pointed-arched breathers, and plain breathers are placed at regular intervals just below the eaves. On the east side, there are later outshuts, one of which includes a re-used two-light double chamfered stone mullion window. Inside, the barn contains eleven large king-post sawn trusses and a shippon with a ceiling made of stone flags. It is noted that a barn of similar proportions previously occupied this site, and this current structure is said to have been built around it.
