HENDERSKELFE SOUTH PARTERRE SE 7169 Castle Howard 12/68 Statue of Silenus with the Infant Bacchus and pedestal approximately 75 metres north-east of Atlas Fountain GV II * Statue of Silenus with the Infant Bacchus, and the pedestal on which it stands. Mid C18 statue. Pedestal c1720, probably by Nicholas Hawksmoor. Sandstone pedestal, lead statue. Pedestal approximately 2.5 metres in height, statue life size. Square 3-course base carries drum pedestal with moulded base and cornice, and festoons. Statue of faun Silenus, leaning on a tree trunk holding the child Bacchus in his arms.
