Description
The Pier Hotel, located at No. 5 Pier Road, dates back to 1811 and is a notable 18th-century building. It features a rendered pantile roof and stands three storeys high with attics, including one dormer. The front has two windows with wood architraves and double-hung sashes that have glazing bars, which are slightly bowed on the first floor. The ground floor has been modernized and includes a double door with a rectangular fanlight. To the right, there is a one-storey section that projects forward. The rear elevation, facing The Cragg, is made of brick and also has three storeys with two windows. The Pier Hotel is part of a group that includes Nos 4 to 23, which are consecutive properties.
