Description

The small coach house to the east of Number 84 High Street in Northallerton dates back to around 1754 and has undergone later alterations. It was likely designed by John Carr of York for Mr. D Mitford, the same individual associated with Number 84. The building is constructed of painted brick in English garden wall bond and features a pantile roof. It stands two stories high with three bays. The ground floor has been modified and now includes 20th-century casement windows situated below a first-floor sill band. On the first floor, there is a recessed Diocletian panel flanked by blind oculi, with an eaves band and coping that form a pediment. At the center of the ridge, there is a wooden louvred vent. The coach house is currently used as a workshop.
